Guidance for the Submission of Articles

The Medico-Legal Journal requests all authors to submit manuscripts to the Editor for consideration in electronic form, i.e. as a computer file. This will reduce the time between acceptance and publication of material. It will also eliminate the errors associated with re-keying.

  • Please supply contact details, most helpfully an e-mail address, so that you can be contacted in the event of any problem with the file.

The following points should be kept in mind when preparing material.

    Text
  • Label any disk used clearly.
  • PC-formatted disks must be used. (Alternatively, files can be emailed directly to the Editor)
  • The Editor’s preference is for Microsoft Word in PC format; however all mainstream software formats are acceptable.

    Artwork
  • We prefer to receive artwork in electronic form. Please supply these as either TIF or JPEG formats, taking care to apply the Times New Roman font to any text within the image (this is to ensure it matches other text in the journal).
  • Diagrams and tables produced in Word or Excel, and supplied in those formats, are perfectly acceptable.
  • If possible, place each item of artwork in a separate file.
  • When creating graphs and charts, please bear in mind that this is a black and white publication.
If you have any problems or technical questions please email the Editor or the Production Editor, as relevant.
