OUR NEW PRESIDENT HAS BEEN APPOINTED
We are delighted to announce that Sir Robert Francis QC has agreed to become our President when the current President, Dr Daniel Haines, steps down in October 2018.
Sir Robert is one of the most prominent QCs practising in medical law, including clinical negligence. He is a member of Serjeants’ Inn Chambers. He came to public prominence when he chaired the two Mid Staffordshire Foundation Trust enquiries. Members will recall that he has addressed the Society about the issues raised.
The latest issue of the Medico-Legal Journal (Volume 86 part 1) has been published.
There is a full report of the Society’s meeting in June 2017 when Chief Superintendent Colin Morgan spoke about Moral and Legal Dilemmas in the Policing of Protest and other major public events.
Original articles include contributions by John Mayberry from University of Leicester on Statutory Regulation of Invasive Complementary Therapies, by Audrey Laur of Western Australia on Healthcare access for Deaf Patients and by George Buttigieg of University of Malta on Revisiting Bolam and Bolitho in light of the Montgomery case.
