Promoting medico-legal knowledge in all its aspects

MEETINGS CANCELLED DURING PANDEMIC BUT JOURNAL  CONTINUES WITH SPECIAL EDITION

Members will appreciate that at a relatively early stage of the Covid-19 pandemic it is difficult to say when the Society’s normal meetings and Annual Dinner will take place.

The Editors of the Medico-Legal Journal are currently planning a special edition on the Coronavirus pandemic. This will be in addition to the normal Journal but will be online only. Contributions from members and from around the world are expected.

Meanwhile, the latest edition (Volume 88 Part 1) has been published. It features Sir Robert Francis’s Presidential Address on “Medical Professionalism in the 21st Century.” There are several contributions from Italy including a paper comparing homicide of prostitutes with those of women in the general population; an interesting article from authors at Imperial College and King Edward VII hospital on the need for better support for foundation year doctors; a contribution from members of the Department of Forensic Medicine in Tehran on the Insanity Defence to murder in bipolar patients; a discussion of Needle Injuries to women in Nepal and an analysis by a group of British authors of 609 Non-Whiplash soft-tissue injuries arising from low-impact road traffic accidents.
